HAGERSTOWN, MARYLAND –The Visit Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is pleased to announce the top three winners of its second annual #HappyInHagerstown photo contest. This year ‘s selection committee had to choose from nearly 1,000 photographs taken throughout Washington County, Maryland, by visitors and residents.

The first place winner of the 2016 #HappyInHagerstown photo contest is Scott Cantner for his photograph of a girl blowing bubbles by the lake in City Park. “This photo captures the true essence of fun and happiness at Hagerstown’s beautiful City Park,” said Dan Spedden, president of the Visit Hagerstown-Washington County CVB. “The image composition – with the Museum of Fine Arts in the background – is what makes this special to our area and a winner for us.” Cantner will receive $500 for his first place photograph.

Second place in the 2016 #HappyInHagerstown goes to Loderique Gordon for his image of a young girl pointing to a piece of artwork hanging in the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts. Gordon will receive $250 for his second place photograph. Third place goes to Harry Jones for his image of a cyclist riding through a tunnel on the Western Maryland Rail Trail. “We asked for people to share their photos with us and the response was wonderful” said Betsy DeVore, director of marketing & digital communications for the Visit Hagerstown-Washington County CVB. “This year’s entries were taken throughout the county and showcased so many great things about Washington County. You’ll definitely see them in future CVB marketing,” DeVore said. “It was also great to see the #HappyInHagerstown hashtag used throughout social media during the contest.” Visit Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization whose mission is to help attract visitors to Hagerstown and Washington County.
