The intriguing story of America's first federally funded highway, often called "America's Main Street" and "The Road that Built the Nation." The museum introduces the road and its importance, the vehicles which have traveled the byway over the past two centuries, the technology which earned it recognition as a “Civil Engineering Landmark,” the people and towns which built and traveled the corridor, and the experiences and landmarks found along the National Road in its heyday and into today.
