CDA Program begins in May of 2026


Program Objectives

  • Expand awareness of Hagerstown & Washington County as a visitor destination
  • Improve performance
  • Inspire employees and volunteers to take pride in their role
  • Increase visitation and visitor spending

What are the steps for achieving the CDA Designation?

  1. Enroll for the online program through Hagerstown Community College, or if a member of Visit Hagerstown/Washington County CVB, request a login code at cda@visithagerstown.com
  2. Complete (4) Modules
    • The Power of Tourism & Hospitality
    • Washington County as a Destination
    • Customer Service
    • Resources for Success
  3. Successfully pass the final exam (50 multiple-choice questions). Must pass with 80%. Sample Exam Questions:

    • True or False: A positive customer experience can often lead to repeat visits and positive online reviews.

    • In addition to dining at a restaurant and walking on the Cultural Trail, what activities can one enjoy in Hagerstown’s Arts & Entertainment District?

    • Which Washington County town is known as an Appalachian Trail Community?

  4. To receive your certificate, please complete the following steps:

    Visit a total of 5 sites highlighted in Module 2. This can be winery, museum, festival, restaurant, or park.

    • Then, post a picture, identify the site, and tag @WCCDA (Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.)
      OR
    • Send an email with a picture and a two to three-sentence description of your experience to CDA@visithagerstown.com

  5. Upon receipt of login information from Hagerstown/Washington County CVB, log in and complete your CDA profile. This will allow you to receive news and updates about events, programs, and discounts offered to CDA from local businesses and attractions.

    The site also includes opportunities for additional learning, volunteer, and employment listings.
    Once certified...

    • Add your certification to your resume
    • Share with your employer or volunteer manager
    • Wear your Pin with Pride
    • Encourage others to participate in the program

How much does it cost?

  • Free to members of Visit Hagerstown & Washington County CVB. (limited number of registrations per member)
  • $20 per person – Residents, students, non-Visit Hagerstown Members
